Big miracles are hard to miss. A tornado rips through a neighborhood, but one entire street is untouched. A bystander pulls a child out of the street before a car can avoid hitting him. A cancer patient survives. A man wakes from a 30 year coma. They rarely happen, and they are big news when they do. And rightly so. But what about those tiny miracles that happen daily? Some so hidden we may not even know about them?
My mom once told me that she calls the slow drivers in front of her on the road "her angels." She may be late for work, and it may be aggravating, but those people just might be saving her from an accident. They keep her heavy foot light, and just may be keeping her alive. This really struck me. How many miracles like that happen everyday that we don't realize? Yes, there may have been 3 bad accidents on the interstate today, but how many were saved? It's these little miracles that I want to focus on. These little ones that may even be more important than the big ones.
What small miracle has happened to you? Remember it! Feel it! Scrap it! As storytellers, we can't forget to include all the little details, not just the big plot points. This is where your journaling skills can really come in to play. It doesn't have to be a lot of words, just a few that help you to remember some small event. But focus on the *reason* you are telling the story, not just the who, what, why, where, and when. These are the things that make up our stories, our pages, our lives.

I created a page with this in mind. It has just a bit of journaling, but to me, says so much more:
Here's what Emily Merritt created with this idea:
Journaling:
You two are our miracle. We never would have thought that so much happiness and love could come from having children. Your daddy had cancer as a child and because of that, we never knew if we would be blessed to have children. When I learned of this before we married, it scared me. But it did not stop me from marrying your daddy. I loved him so much that whatever happened, we would do it together. We didn’t plan to start a family right away, but as soon as we got married we knew that it was the right thing for us to do. Bryleigh, you came into our lives so quickly and we were overwhelmed with emotion when we knew you would be coming into our lives. We now knew it was possible for me to carry our babies. What a joy and comfort that was to your daddy and I. And then Jeremy, you are what I call a double miracle. You were so sick for your first few weeks of life and just having you in our family is an amazing blessing. My children, may you always remember that no matter what happens in your lifetime, you must be mindful that Heavenly Father has a great plan for you. You were meant to be a
part of our family and you were meant for many great things in this life. Always remember that you are loved by your mommy and daddy. You were prayed for, you were given to us, and you are our miracle.
And {storyteller} Steph created this one:
Journaling: I was really caught off guard by how Caitlin was missed while away on her first trip without her family. She went to Florida with Nana & Ahdie. I was worried about her being a little homesick and how much I would miss her. However, I hadn’t even considered that Matthew and Emily would miss her SO much. As soon as she left Emily was counting the days until she returned. They talked about her constantly and every time she called they wanted to talk to her as well. The cutest thing was something Matthew said, when he got up on Wednesday, the day Caitlin was returning. He said “I’m going to go to sleep right after school so that it will be sooner until Caitlin returns”. I have always known that they were close and they have always played together well, but I really realized just HOW much they love each other. I consider this to be an everyday miracle because it is such a blessing that they love to be together this much. I know Caitlin missed them as well. She realized it wasn’t as much fun to go to the playground or on the rides by herself. It’s much more fun when you have someone to share it with. Of course Matthew & Emily were also excited to see the souveniers Caitlin brought back. I love how Emily is covering her face in anticipation!
If you are inspired to create a page, please share the link here with us! We would love to see! Cheers!
