I often times find myself at a loss as to how to scrap a certain photo, what to title my layout, and even in what direction I want the layout to go. It's at these times, I find using quotes so inspiring. There are so many great sites to browse through to find THE perfect quote to make a layout. Here's a few of my faves:
Of these, my favorite is ThinkExist. On this site you are able to search by author, topic or keyword, making finding the perfect quote a snap. I often times will just pick one word that I think describes my photo or the emotion I feel from a photo, type it in, and find a quote that says exactly what I want to convey.
this is what I did for this layout below:
My friend, Sarah, had shown me this photo of her dd, and I knew the moment I saw it I wanted to scrap it for her. Yet I wasn't sure what direction to take the layout and I had no kit in mind. I decided I needed a quote to make the layout come together. I chose the word "quiet" for this photo, plugged that into the search box at ThinkExist and there on the first page I found the quote that totally inspired me:
"in laughing times, we are lucky. in quiet times, we are blessed" author unknown
The layout came together so quickly after that. I decided to go for calming colors, but still wanted a bit of pop, so I chose Emily and Amy's Truly Modly Deeply to scrap with because the colors were just perfect. I pulled my title from the quote itself, and decided to convey even more emotion by turning the photo to a deep sepia. twenty minutes later and all done. All I needed was that quote!
so next time you need a bit of inspiration for a layout, find that perfect quote and create :)
