Can you imagine my surprise when I received my monthly newsletter from my favorite ice cream makers, Ben & Jerry, and found THIS! Ben & Jerry's interactive scrapbook - how cool!
And of course, many of us are familiar with our favorite scrapper, Molly, through the hilarious scrapbooking parodies found on YouTube.
I think the funniest part of that video is that we all have a little (or a lot) of Molly in us. We get so excited about papers, ribbon and alphas. We're already thinking of a perfect layout for the photo we are just about to take. Sometimes we even buy outfits for our children to match our favorite kit we just purchased. If we've signed up for a class or attending a crop, we mark it on our calendars and count down, as if it were a holiday. To some, this may seem strange. We get teased that we are 'crap'booking, or given the look that clearly says "you're going where?!?" when we announce we are spending the weekend at a scrapbooking retreat. (I'm sure you are all nodding in agreement with me about now.) But what most people don't see, is the way that our families look at our layouts. They don't witness the obvious pride found on the faces when our children realize that a whole book was created around just one central character; them! They don't understand that what we are doing is ensuring that the events of our families' lives will never be forgotten. It doesn't dawn on them that scrapbooking is our form of expression, art and/or hobby. We do, and we know why we scrap - it is to share and to remember; it is to tell our story.
Whether scrapbooking is used by Corporate America as an innovative promotion, or by comedians to poke fun and make us laugh, the bottom line is - scrapbooking is everywhere. Embrace that you are part of such an amazing community and take every opportunity to tell your story.
I'm going to grab a scoop (or two) of my favorite Ben & Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Chunk, try not to drip on my keypad, and scrap - care to join me!
take care!

P.S. Before I sign off, from all of us at {we are} storytellers, thank you for making our opening weekend such a success. We greatly appreciate your support. And here's to things to come, mwah!
Get me a spoon! You already have my favorite flavor busted out so move on over and share :)
We are all a bit crazy over our scrap passion but you are right... it's so worth it (more then just the hobby for us) when our families and children cherish and understand how much love goes into our creations!
